Recording Equipment - History
Sound Professional Standard Cardiod mics + Sony MZ-R700
Taper: Louis Choi
Location: GA - First row on the railing 10 people from the tip of heart on stage left side
Additional notes (by the taper): This is a pretty good MD recording. Any woohoos and screams are from me and my girlfriend. Bono and the Edge were just 4-5 feet from us, so what can I say? If you hear any off key singing in the distance, that's some girl two rows behind us who couldn't sing if her life depended on it. Luckily, she only sings a few seconds on random songs.
Comments
Good recording overall, although it lacks more strength, crisper sound and clarity. I'd say that sound is pretty thin since the output is somewhat distant, although it still is pretty clear and enjoyable. Audience noise is not a factor except for a girl that screams from time to time near the taper.
False start for Walk On, that Bono fills with some lyrics until the second take.
I got this set back in 2001 in SHN files, but I do not have any more info on the lineage. Even the taper didn't provide a full lineage. However, this is the original SHN set by the taper. It probably was transferred from the master mini-discs to CDR by the taper, then extracted and converted to SHN, but I can't verify this (something like this: Sound Professional Standard Cardiod mics + Sony MZ-R700 > MD-M > CDR-M > SHN).
