Recording Equipment - History

Danish Pro Audio 4061s + DPA MPS 6010 + Sound Devices MP-2 + Sony TCD-D8 > DAT Master

Taper: scb

Location: Section 83, Row E

Transfer: Tascam DA-20 mkii > Audiowerk2 > PowerMacG4/733

Remaster: Wave Editor 1.5.5 (tracking, normalization, fades), Audacity 1.3-13 beta (clap removal), and Izotope RX (Spectral Repair to tame screams, whistles). Converted to FLAC using xACT 2.14b.

Additional notes (by the taper): I went back to this one after 10 years to give the volume a boost (wasn't peaking anywhere near 0.0) and to try to take out the ridiculously annoying scream at the beginning of "Bad" (trust me, it's a lot better now than it was). I also attempted to remove some of the louder claps that really stood out and some other screamers and whistlers.

Comments

Superb sound quality in this recording that documents the first of two soldout nights at the Madison Square Garden. Music and vocals come through very clear and solid. Crowd noise is minimal, usually placed between songs. This is the remastered version, as mentioned above by the taper.
