Recording Equipment - History
Dual scan, two sources: IEM receiver > Nomad JB3
Taper: sharebear
Mixing / Editing: sharebear - in Adobe Audition.
Additional notes (by sharebear): After the first two San Diego shows, looks like they wanted to try and shake things up a bit. I remember being pretty suprised about shaking up the opener, which they haven't done since the 80s. Anyways, you can hear all the rehearsal organizing in all its detail here. The band was ready to roll early but Bono was AWOL, so Edge had the crew fire up Bono's vocal track from 'Sydney 1993' for Mysterious Ways. There was actually twenty minutes of dead air between MW#1 and the Warm-up, but I snipped that out. Luckily Bono shows up partway through MW#3, even dueting with himself. Some good quips and Bono lecturing during the rehearsal.
Comments
Awesome sound quality in this recording that documents the soundcheck of the first night in Anaheim. This is another of sharebear's extraordinary IEM dual scans. It sounds crystal clear and strong.
To me, this is a pretty interesting rehearsal with the band organizing everything, as they were in the very early stage of the Vertigo Tour, with only two shows played at this point (the opening nights in San Diego). They were fixing the 'intro' of the concert, as they were planning to open with Love and Peace or Else. As mentioned above by sharebear, Bono's vocal track of Mysterious Ways from the famous 'Sydney 1993' concert was used to play that song during the actual soundcheck. Bono finally joined in at around 2:55 during the third take of the song.
