Mix notes (by thir13en):
There's
good and bad news.
The good: Decent mono mix from the ALD is aided very nicely by an ambient stereo
AUD. The total overall mix is dynamic, and the performance by the boys keeps up
their end of the bargain.
The bad: As mentioned above, the ALD is typically mono and a bit compressed, but
much worse is the random FM-sounding static attacks. On some songs it's often,
on others it's nothing. It seems to have the most trouble in the very beginning,
the first 3 songs or so, then makes a come back later in the second hour of the
set. Considering how they started and how distracting they were, the solution I
decided upon is an improvement, but it came at a cost. Most of the fixes go by
cleanly, but there are at least half a dozen that will at times sound like
slight dropouts. Though not up to my desired outcome, it really was better than
the sword-stabbing effect they had previously.
Much gratitude to Sean for the sources and letting me do my thing.
Comments
Superb work by 'thir13en' in this mix of ALD and audience sources. The audience source was stunning in terms of sound quality, so it gives this mix a very dynamic and crisp sound. Sound quality is brilliant in this recording, and the only minor to remark is the little dropouts mentioned above by 'thir13en'.
Usual snippets appeared here and there, such as Stories for Boys and Hello on Vertigo, No Regrets at the end of Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own, or The Hands That Built America and Johnny Comes Marching Home on Bullet the Blue Sky.
