Recording Equipment - History

Icom IC-R5 receiver + M-Audio MicroTrack > CF Card > PC > CoolEdit (channel mixing and EQ'ing) > CDWave (tracksplitting) > FLAC

Additional notes (by Ricku2): First three songs are missing (searching for good frequency). Bono's voice is missing on this feed in Drowning Man, Angel of Harlem and Mysterious Ways. Bono was singing for sure, he just is not present in this feed. At one moment you can hear someone asking where Bono's vocals are... so in fact this is an instrumental version with only Edge singing. You can hear Bono a little in the background.

Additional notes (by sharebear): The way the higher signal distorts almost makes me think the taper dialed into an intermod signal.

Comments

A general rehearsal in Barcelona two days before the so-called 'Dress Rehearsal', and only three days before the 360º Tour kicked in. The band played during the Saturday evening, and again at night, and this tape documents the night rehearsal.

The recording is pretty listenable and offers a clear output, and not much interferences or static bursts. It was recorded outside the stadium. The high-end is much higher in the mix, with bass being the lowest part, and occasionally non-existent. As mentioned above by 'Ricku2', the first three songs are missing (Breathe, No Line on the Horizon and Get On Your Boots), as it seems the taper was looking for the right signal. Moreover, Drowning Man, Angel of Harlem and Mysterious Ways are almost instrumental, with only Edge singing, as Bono's vocals were gone off the signal (even the crew asked where they were). I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For cuts out at the very end of the song, during the snippet of Movin' On Up. A pair of snippets from Michael Jackson appeared at the end of Vertigo.
