Recording Equipment - History

DPA4061 (x2) > HEB Batt Box > Sony PCM-M1

Taper: Javi D.

Location: inside the circle, facing the left speaker of the left side

Transfer: DAT Master 44.1 KHz > optical transfer to WAV > Cooledit Pro WAV edit (convert to 32bit, amplification, bass removal <130Hz, slight EQ), WAVES L2 (hard limiting and dither to 16bit) > FLAC

Additional notes (by Javi D.): The pops that can be heard here and there are balloons exploding near the taper (a spanish U2 fan club distributed around 50.000 balloons). This version was taped from inside the circle but facing a side stack, trying to keep a distance with the mass of people so as to minimize the audience noise. Unlike my 2005 shows which did not sound too bad in raw form, I decided to remove a bit of bass on this one to make it more listenable even with average speakers, and I think it was worth it.

Comments

This is the last source to pop up that documents the opening night of the 360º Tour. In terms of sound quality, this is the best source so far, and I'd place it in the borderline "exc / exc+". It sounds clear, close and crisp. Moreover, it offers less crowd noise and the live feeling is fantastic. The overall output sounds pretty deep, too.

The band did a connection with the International Space Station after In a Little While, so they could ask the astronauts their questions or cast opinions. The Edge completely messed up during One as Bono didn't sing the lyrics in the right way, so the band delivered a very rare rendition of the song.
