Recording Equipment - History
Sony ECM-719 stereo mic > M-Audio MicroTrack II (@ 24bit/48kHz)
Taper: M!les
Location: Inner pitch between main stage and catwalk, 10 rows from front, on Edge's side
Transfer: MicroTrack II > USB > WAV > WaveLab (16bit/44.1kHz) > CDWave > FLAC
Additional notes (by the taper): Just back from this great show! The band were
in an excellent mood and delivered a tight, energetic performance
(except from a small glitch in 'Vertigo'). This is the 5th show from the current
360º Tour and it's a bit more well-oiled. Bono's voice sounded beautiful, he
talked a lot to the audience, great interaction with the crowd. Short but very
emotional speech to introduce "The Unforgettable Fire" (the gem of this tour
IMHO, at long last they play it again!). I know that usually tapers hate
screamers but I don't care. This was a rock'n'roll concert, it's about the
music, I was with many friends and everyone wanted to have fun, it's all that
matters.
Comments
Very nice source of the first night in Paris. Sound quality is pretty good, with a clear and strong capture of music and vocals. The output sounds quite full and solid but it suffers a bit of stadium syndrome, with a slightly echoed sound. The real major here is the amount of crowd noise with hard clapping and individual voices near the taper here and there, although mostly placed between songs (explained by the taper above), so some may downgrade this source a little bit. However, I prefer this source over "bedoc's master" (SP-CMC-4 + SP-SPSB-1 Battery Box @160HZ + Olympus LS-10) in terms of overall clarity of the output.
