Recording Equipment - History

Sony ECM-719 stereo mic + M-Audio MicroTrack II (@ 24bit/48kHz)

Taper: M!les

Location: standing pitch, inner circle, central axis, 15 yards in front of Bono's mic stand, catwalk barrier behind my back

Transfer: MicroTrack II > USB > WAV > WaveLab (downsampling 16bit/44.1kHz) > CDWave > FLAC (SBEs aligned, verified OK)

Additional notes (by the taper): An extraordinary show and by all accounts the best U2 concert I've ever attended! A bit of screaming here and there since I was standing in the inner circle, however I don't find it too disturbing.

Comments

Second source of the second night at Wembley Stadium. As the tape of the previous night by the same taper, this one offers a very clear and strong sound, but also somewhat harsh. Moreover, it offers more crowd noise, with cheering and hard clapping near the taper on occasion. However, very nice sound and really enjoyable recording, and to my ears it sounds a little better than the recording of the previous night by the same taper, likely an "exc-".

As occured on the first night a snippet of London Bridge is Falling Down appeared at the beginning of Beautiful Day. Break on Through at the end of Until the End of the WorldThe Unforgettable Fire contains a line from A Day Without Me ("starting a landslide in my ego"). Bono played guitar during Bad.
