Recording Equipment - History

Church Audio CA-11 + CA STC-9000 pre amp + Edirol R09 (@ 24 bit / 48 kHz)

Taper: Gouge1

Location: inner circle outer rail smack in the middle, between Bono and Edge

Transfer: Edirol R09 > WAV > CDWave Editor > FLAC (level-6) > TLH > WAV > Cool Edit Pro (downsampling to 16 bit / 44.1 kHz) > TLH > FLAC (level-6)

Track splitting and original conversion to FLAC (24bit / 48kHz): Holyjoez

Final Conversion to 16/44.1 and re-encoding to FLAC: Petergoode

Additional notes (by the Holyjoez): I received this, as a master recording, from the taper “Gouge1” who should take all the credit for this fantastic audience recording. The only thing I’ve done, is split it & posted it as I have far too much time on my hands. Sound is really 1st class, as audience noise is not intrusive & the band can be heard playing without hardly any over shadowing.

Comments

Bright audience recording of the last show of the first leg of the tour. Sound quality is excellent with music and vocals coming through very clear and well upfront, although note there's some crowd interference, mostly located between songs. However, people are a bit loud on occasion, so some may consider that it downgrades a little bit the recording.

Bono sings part of Land of My Fathers at the beginning of Beautiful Day.
