Recording Equipment - History
Olympus LS10 (with internal mics) > PCM WAV > PC > Sound Forge Pro 10.0 (for tracking and down converting 96Hz/24bit lossless to 48Hz/16bit) > TLH > FLAC
Taper: Rebeltwins
Location: Section 111 Row BB on The Edge's side of the stage
Additional notes (by the taper): I recorded the show on a 4GB SD card and the
encore switched the 2GB internal memory. I used the highest PCM setting for this
recording 96,000 Hz 24 bit stereo @ 4.2 GB total. I did use the wind covers for
the mic's and have to thank my wife for keeping her noise level at a minimum
throughout the show. I also mounted a hand held camera tripod which screws into
the LS10 so there would be no rubbing or banging of the recorder. For the most
part the crowd noise was minimal except for a few outbursts from the guy to my
right but that's life.
It was a perfect night for an outdoor show. There was a full blue moon with no
wind and the temperature in the 60's. The show came off really well. I thought
Bono's voice was above average and the band played tight.
Comments
This is a second source of this concert. Sound quality is very good overall. It sounds louder and closer than the other source, but in my opinion, it also sounds less clear as it seems slightly hot in the levels, and this issue makes the tape to sound tiny harsh. Moreover, this source offers more crowd noise. All in all, quality is very nice.
A little snippet of People Get Ready appeared on Sunday Bloody Sunday.
