Additional notes (by the tapers): This feed was from Bono's IEM. We arrived for this concert later in the afternoon than we usually do, but because it was pouring rain we still ended up near the front of the line. After the gates opened at 5 in the afternoon, we ran to get inside the circle and ended up right in front of Bono again (3 meters away). It was a great concert in spite of the rain, and Bono sings several "rain" snippets during the concert. The crowd was great, and we were lucky to hear "Boy Falls From the Sky" for the first time ever!.
Comments
Another stereo IEM recording from Bono's that documents the second night in Coimbra. It sounds powerful with a clear capture of music and vocals. But on the other hand, the recording is plagued by static dropouts and interferences, although the worst part is located in the first third of the show. Return of the Stingray Guitar and Beautiful Day are almost ruined by huge clipping, that lasts until 2:55 into Beautiful Day. However, even with these scratches and interferences, the tape offers very nice sound quality.
Boy Falls From The Sky had its live début that night, and it was the sixth unreleased song to that date which was played on the third leg of the tour. Quoting the website www.u2gigs.com :
Live debut of Boy Falls From the Sky, performed as a special surprise in honour of Coimbra's very enthusiastic reception of U2. The song, written by U2, features in the Broadway stage production 'Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark'.
