Additional notes:
- A few
radio station ID's here and there, none were removed, transfer was only slightly
equalized.
- There is some tape degradation on Get On Your Boots during 2 seconds
- A few seconds were lost in a tape swap at the end of Walk On, the taper
switched taped during a jingle when there was still music afterwards.
- Transfer was done azimuth corrected at 24/96; still the broadcast have some
echo and Bono's voice isn't very powerful on the recording.
- Broadcasted live on 94.5 KFM. Recording was done in mono (or broadcasted in
false stereo at least).
Comments
First show ever held at the Cape Town Stadium. It was broadcast by 94.5 KFM in South Africa (hence this recording) and by u2.com for their subscribers. Sound quality is good and pretty listenable, but the recording is downgraded by a bad balance, a bad mix off the board, and some echoed output and clipping.
South African popular singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka (also known as 'The Princess of Africa') appeared onstage to sing Still Haven't Found and Stand by Me. City of Blinding Lights contained a new intro featuring samples of Fez-Being Born and Zooropa.
