Transfer: mauxworld

Additional comments (mauxworld): I transferred this recording from 2nd generation cassette, recieved in trade back in 1992. This concert was breadcast (or rebroadcast) by FM Radio 2 on October 1980. Sound quality is very good to excellent soundboard. Track 17 I transferred from an unknown generation cassette, this track is not mentioned in U2Live book (very rare), and was broadcast on March 1980 by FM Radio 2, sound
quality is good to very good soundboard
.

Comments

This is one of the oldest recordings the trading community got. It documents the sold-out show that was attended by Island Records members and representatives, and after it, the band signed their contract with this label. The band were still developing some songs, that would appear later this year (1980) on the Boy album. I can't confirm if track 17, The Electric Co, was played that night, but I am more inclined to say it wasn't, as it didn't appear on the Tullamore setlist a few days later (March 2nd 1980), either. However, the Radio 2 DJ says it was been recorded live at the National Stadium, so who knows.

Sound quality is very good. Some imperfections and tape degradation appear here and there, but nothing too detracting. Clarity is quite good for such an old item, so it gets a pleasant listen. I think this sounds crisper than the commercial My Hometown version, but on the contrary, it brings less strength.
