Transfer: Stadtfelder

Additional notes (by Stadtfelder): This is slight upgrade to what it is on circulation, because it is more complete:

- I Fall Down is complete and is not missing the last few notes.
- There is no fade between 11 O'Clock Tick Tock and I Will Follow.
- There is some crowd noise after I Will Follow including the first second of Clannad's "Harry's Game" on the outro music. This proves that "40" was not played on this concert.
- This version is longer (49:39) than the other one (47:48).

Some flaws on the other version are included here, too:

- Gloria is faded in. The taper probably pushed the recording button too late.
- There are microphone problems (especially on the left channel) on Gloria, A Day Without Me, The Electric Co. and especially on 11 O'Clock Tick Tock. Bono mentions rain and maybe the microphones were not working properly during the rain!?

I guess that those flaws are on the master tape, too.

Comments

Good recording of the first date of the American leg of the War tour. Sound is a bit muddy, so it lacks crispness, but it still is pretty enjoyable. Anyway, music and vocals sound clear and strong. Crowd noise is certainly audible, and even rough at a few spots near the taper but never being overwhelming. Gloria fades in, missing the very first seconds. Sound quality on I Will Follow is lower than the rest of the show. As mentioned above by 'Stadtfelder', after I Will Follow we can hear some crowd noise and cheering and the first pair of seconds of the outro, what proves that "40" wasn't played in this concert. This transfer represents a slight upgrade to the so-called 'War Chapel Hill' transfer.
