This is a great show, with a very energetic performance by the band. The recording is quite good, although the sound is drum-dominated. Clarity is really good, with all instruments well audible. This is much better than the "War at Colorado State" recording, that has a lot of hiss in the background and plays too fast. On the contrary, this item, A Hard Rain In Boulder, plays at the correct speed and doesn't have any background noise, neither hiss. A little edit occurs just before 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, that makes the song to cut in, only missing the first 6/7 seconds.

As appeared in book U2 Live by Pim Jal de la Parra (Omnibus Press), "this show was planned for Paul McGuinness as a potential substitute in case the Denver date -the day before- was cancelled or if heavy rainfall spoiled the show. Admission for this show was free."

Bono was in high spirit and added extended lines of Billie Jean to Surrender. He also asked if there were people in the venue who attended the previous night gig, receiving a loud response. Bono made some references to the Red Rocks show and the Rocky Mountains throughout the concert. Members of support band The Alarm joined U2 onstage to do a cover of Bob Dylan's A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall. It finally ended in a fantastic rendition of the song, finished by Bono alone.
