This tape documents the second night in Auckland. As the recording of the previous night, sound is good with all instruments coming through pretty well. It lacks just a bit more of sharpness as at times recording is slightly muffled, but still sounds quite solid. Audience noise is audible, but not an issue. A very nice rendition of Pride with extended lyrics was played.
There are a few drawbacks. For example, The Electric Co contains a big skip at 02:40 probably due to a tape flip, missing a good portion of the song. "40" fades out early, and only lasts 01:12.
Out of Control is stopped halfway due to heavy pushing on the front rows. After Bono's words trying to calm down the people the band resumed the song. On the other hand, the band was still developing their new sound, and trying to replace the old songs by the new ones. Quoting book U2-Live by Pimm Jal de la Parra (and Caroline van Oosten de Boer, published by Omnibus Press, 2003): "One of the new songs displacing the old is The Unforgettable Fire, which premières tonight. The only song in the set that hints U2's new direction, the audience listen to it attentively while The Edge conjures up its ethereal intro on keyboards. Bono has difficulty reaching the high notes and sings a few of the lines in a whisper. He diverges from the studio version, singing 'Stay till your heart beats through' in long bursts, and then gets the audience to sing along to that."
