Recording Equipment - History

Sony analog recorder with built-in mics > Analog Master (2x Maxell XLII90 tapes)

Taper: Michael Squier

Transfer (by Javi Dieguez on 25/oct/02): Sony K870-ES tape deck (3 head/3 motor) > Sony DTC-ZE700 A/D @ 44.1Khz w/SBM (optical out) > Zefiro ZA2 (optical in) > Cooledit Pro v1.2a > WAV > FLAC Frontend (level 6)

Additional Comments (by Javi Dieguez): Raw transfer w/hiss footprints. Same bits as outputted by A/D converter, no editing at all. A bit of "Seconds" was lost during the tapeflip.

Comments

This recording features a nice upgrade to what it is on circulation. Sound is very clear with music and vocals well upfront as they sound pretty close. It may sound slightly raw, but sound quality places in the borderline 'very good' / 'excellent' rating. Crowd noise is audible but not disturbing. The setlist is amazing, in my opinion. Two songs were premièred that night: Wire and A Sort of Homecoming.

Note there is no DAE, so we have flac files straight off the master cassettes. As mentioned above, Seconds contains an edit at 01:43 due to a tape flip, missing a few seconds of the song.
