Additional notes (by Javi Dieguez): Some music was lost at the start of the show, and also during the tapeflip (The Electric Co. -> Bad). This comes from outside the U2 circles... The story on this is I found a highly rated 3rd gen in the list of a Cure guy in Europe and tracked it down a bit. 2nd gen was someone from France, and 1st gen was a guy in Nantes itself, who was kind enough to put his tape onto CDR for me. This is as complete as the best version that is circulating, but shows no tape degradation. I hope this is an upgrade to most of you.
Comments
This is a new source that popped up on U2T on December 28th, 2008, uploaded by Javi Dieguez. As he hoped, this is a big upgrade to what it was on circulation. It comes from the same source that my other tape of this show, but this is an upgrade both in terms of sound quality and lineage, as this one comes off a first generation cassette. So this is the real 'Analog 1st' source that I did reference in my comments of the 'Analog 3rd source'. The 'Analog 3rd source' has been mislabeled as "Analog 1st" in some tradinglists.
Sound quality is fantastic in this new source, with a better balance, and a more full / natural output, as music and vocals come through crisper. This seems to run OK, or closer to the proper speed, and there are minimal shows of tape wear. However, there is a bit of hiss in the quieter parts of the concert.
11 O'Clock Tick Tock fades in, joined in progress. The Electric Co fades out at 04:41, missing a good portion of the song. Bad, which is the first track of CD2, fades in, so this is where the taper did a tape flip.
