Additional comments (by Yetimouse): I got this from Jeff Roy in 1998, and he had transferred the show from tape to CDR. First, let's start with the bad. The volume is EXTREMELY LOW! For some perspective, in my CD player, to play a concert at a normal volume I would put it at 12. To even listen to this concert at a normal level I had to put the volume at 50! I would have blown my speakers with any other show. At first listen this is a poor audience, but once the volume is boosted it is a Good Audience, with the potential to be a G/VG audience with the proper remastering. Since I admitedly suck at remastering I have done nothing with this recording. A good performance that suffers only from a lack of volume. Too bad that 40 is cut about 1:21 in also. There is an awkward transition to A Sort of Homecoming as well. Enjoy the show at an incredibly high volume. These April shows are the best of the American leg of the UF tour in my opinion. Unless the volume is boosted, this is for people interested in filling gaps in their collections.

Comments

'Yetimouse' said it all with his comments above. Volume is extremely low, so the recording sounds extremely thin. The output is clear if you turn up your volume, I'd say just enough to be listenable. Note "40" only lasts 1:21 as it cuts out. Last track is just an interview, but it is almost inaudible due to volume level being too low. This tape documents the first of three nights at the Centrum in Worcester (MA, USA).

Almost a disaster occured in this concert. Quoting book U2-Live (by Pimm Jal de la Parra and Caroline van Oosten de Boer, published by Omnibus Press, 2003): "During Wire, a lighting rig on Adam's side of the stage begins to slip from its perch above the audience, threatening to fall into the front rows. Adam notices it, keeps his cool and whispers into Bono's ear. The band stop playing, Bono consults a technician and roadies climb up to tighten the cables and make the lighting rig secure. Bono urges the audience to move out of the way for safety's sake, and tries to calm everyone down to avoid panic: 'They need 20 minutes to fix this with steel cable and stuff. Don't worry. We're gonna have a rock & roll concert even if we have to wait all night.' Twenty minute or so later everybody is allowed back into their seats. U2 resume the show with Two Hearts Beat As One, not originally on the setlist."
