Recording Equipment - History
2nd Gen Cassette > Nakamichi CR-7A transfer (Dolby decode) > Peak 5.1 > FLAC
Transfer: JEMS
Additional comments (by JEMS): Pulled this out of the low shelves. My copy (marked second gen.) was obtained circa 1987-88, and that's the cassette I transferred here so no worries about MP3s. I honestly don't remember the story of who taped and how I got it, but I have a few guesses. The quality of the recording is surprisingly good in my opinion (sample below). There's a bit of noise in one channel and some very very excited young women nearby, but otherwise close, clear sound.
Upon hearing "Pride"
I thought for sure the tape was slow, but when I checked the tape loop for "Bad"
against another known source, it seemed
to match up (to my ears; I didn't do a truly scientific measurement) which leads
me to think they just played "Pride" slow that night. This version of "Bad"
might be the most improvised take ever. Bono barely sticks to the lyrics. Tape
includes the "Sun City" and "I Shall Be Released" encores featuring other
artists.
Comments
This is the second show of the "A Conspiracy of Hope Tour". It was booked at the The Forum in Inglewood, a town in the outskirts of Los Angeles, in L.A. County. The band put on another energetic performance. This is a very nice recording with pretty good sound quality. Both music and vocals are clearly audible with any big interference. After reading JEMS comments, I still think the tape plays slightly slow.
