Recording Equipment - History

Analog 2nd > Nakamichi CR-7A transfer > Peak 5.2 (nip, tuck, speed correct) > FLAC

Transfer: JEMS

Additional comments (JEMS): This version is likely second generation (sorry, my notes are incomplete), and the sound quality is very good though the incredibly boisterous audience does overwhelm in several spots, especially at the start. In fact, the tape runs very hot as the crowd's zeal peaks to distortion on my copy though the actual music never distorts. When the yelling lessens, the underlying recording is quite appealing, clear and full. I obtained these tapes in 1988. The performance is excellent and the set list topsy turvy (it opens like an UF tour show), which is probably the result of this being the third night of three in the Boston area.

Comments

Very good sound in this strong concert. The only blemish here is that crowd noise is really loud, with clapping, whistling and cheering near the taper. But the sound output is very clear and crisp, so when people calm down the tape sounds quite sharp, in the borderline between "very good" and "excellent" rating. To me, amazing renditions of Bad and With or Without You in this concert.

There are a pair of edits that don't affect to the music. The first one appears after In God's Country, and the second after Bad.
