Additional comments (by S.V.): This is a great sounding leg 2 JT show. I attenuated and blended out a number of jarring mic plug noises on Disc 2
using Cool Edit 2000 (Disc 1 did not have any of these defects). The plug noises were very distracting so I tried to remove and reduce them as much as possible. I successfully blended out about 50% (6 or 7) of them. However, there are still noticeable defects at the following locations on
disc 2:
* "With or Without You" (CD2 - track 4): 0:16-0:22; 3:00; 3:04; 4:52-4:55
* "40" (CD2 - track 5): 0:19-0:23

Comments

This is the first of three shows in Birmingham on the second leg of the Joshua Tree Tour. Sound is excellent with a powerful and upfront capture of both music and vocals. Crowd noise is placed between songs. This is a major upgrade as it comes straight off the master tape. The show is amazing with the band delivering a strong performance.

The band played three consecutive covers: Maggie's Farm, People Get Ready and Knockin' on Heaven's Door. As usual, a fan came onstage to play guitar on People Get Ready. After the song, Bono asked him if he was in a band and if they were at the gig, too. And as they were, the whole local band took the stage (track 13) and played with U2 onstage a brief rendition of Knockin' on Heaven's Door.
