Recording Equipment - History

Sony Mic + Sony WM-D3 > Analog Master > CDR-3

Comments

This is what a call a real pity. A good recording equipment for the era ruined by a poor location in the venue. What it could be a fantastic recording is poored by huge cheering, screaming and applause by the audience near the taper. In other words, music levels ae pretty good, but audience noise is much bigger. If it hadn't been for the audience noise, this recording could be easily rated as very good or even excellent audience: although the venue doesn't have the proper acoustics, with a better location the taper would have recorded a very good concert.

This recording brings the complete show in Paris. Let's talk about the flaws. Sound is not that bad, just a bit thin, but good if it wasn't for the screaming. When people calm down, recording gets much clearer, becoming very good, but this doesn't happen very often. At 01:14 in I Will Follow, we can hear the taper saying "shit", as if the recording equipment fall down, and volume level gets lowered for a couple of seconds. Then, there is an edit (or a skip) at 01:23 that cuts off a few seconds of the song. At 0:35 during In God's Country appears a digi-noise that lasts just one second. There is an edit between Running to Stand Still and With or Without You that cuts out the first seconds of the latter.
