Comments
This recording comes from the same source than 'Riders on the Storm', but this one comes straight off the master cassettes. It is a good audience recording with a little harsh sound. All instruments are clearly audible, as well as vocals, featuring a good balance. Audience noise is loud and can be invasive sometimes, but it is generally placed between songs. Sharpness is more than decent, but the final output still is somewhat unpolished. There are a pair of edits throughout the tape with no loss of music. Note there's a hiccup at 4:28 in Pride. Track divisions run smoothly. Note that on the 'Riders on the Storm' set there are tiny marks between some of the tracks, and moreover, the set runs slightly fast.
The show is outstanding. Attendance was limited to 75.000 for security reasons but the promoter put on sale 40.000 additional tickets in an illegal way. The show was the first ever by the band in Spain, so it was a huge event in the country. The oldies were fantastically well-received, and note that Spanish Eyes was premièred that night. Just before "40", Bono thanks the city for the show: "I ask myself one question: why have we not played here before?".
