Taper: Chris (aka searcher2cr)

Location: Ground Level, Section D, Row 28, Seat 157

Additional comments (by the taper): The sound is a bit distant owing to the recording location and large outdoor venue amidst a mostly standing ground level audience on a cool fall evening down by Lake Ontario. Bono makes a few comments about the size of the stadium in comparison to their first Toronto concert at the 'El Mocambo' tavern on Dec 9, 1980.

Comments

Very good recording straight off the master cassettes. It sounds powerful, but tiny more distant than the other source I own of this show, and a bit more harsh as well, as it offers a more unpolished sound. I'd say music sounds higher in the mix than vocals, as they sound a bit echoed. However, the overall sound quality makes this tape very enjoyable.

Note there are a few noticeable edits. The first one appears at 05:43 in Sunday Bloody Sunday, that cuts off a few seconds of the song. Another little edit makes The Star Spangled Banner to cut in. Running to Stand Still suffers another one at 03:23, and again it makes the song to miss a few seconds. There are some pauses in the recorder during the 'encore break' right before "40", so they only affect to crowd noise.
