Comments
This is a 'cassette-to-CDR' transfer by Yauckt. The tape documents the third and last night in Brisbane (Australia). This is only for the ones who collect every single gig, as sound quality is just fair. The output is pretty thin and low, and slightly muffled on occasion. But the biggest blemish is hat the output seems to be covered by a mist, some kind of little noise that is always there. There are some noticeable edits here and there, and the first track of each CD has a long fade-in.
These
are the notes I got from Yauckt (taken from u2depot
website): "This recording is wasted by a rumbling noise
which lays over the music,
at times even makes it hard to hear the actual song. Otherwise it would be a
very nice recording because instruments and vocals would be clearly audible if
it weren't for this sucky noise. Audience is noisy but shuts up as soon as the
songs start. The opening songs on both discs (Streets and Bad)
fade in and have tape speed distorsions during the first seconds. Because of the
background (or better said foreground) noise only recommendable for
completionists."
And Yauckt's notes: so what can I add, speed distortion comes sometimes during the show (but not often). there's also a few bad edits but not during the songs. Like u2depot says, audience is extremly noisy between songs but calms down when the song is started. With or Without You fades out during the solo.
On the other hand, note tracks 11 to 14 on CD2, are a nice bonus. They feature the soundcheck at Hammersmith Odeon in London (UK) on March, 14th 1983. All songs are instrumental except Seconds, with Edge and Bono on vocals. Sound quality is good.
