Additional notes (by Stadtfelder): The recording is not complete. The taper went to the venue with two C-90 tapes in the afternoon and was able to record the soundcheck (without expecting this before). There was only one C-90 tape left after the soundcheck. To capture nearly all of the songs the tape flip was too late and People Get Ready is incomplete. There are cuts between Bad/October, New Year's Day/Pride, Pride/Angel of Harlem, When Love Comes to Town/Love Rescue Me, Love Rescue Me/Bullet the Blue Sky and Running to Stand Still/With or Without You to save some tape.
Comments
Good recording of the first of seven shows in Melbourne. Sound comes through quite clear and loud, but it lacks more cleanness, as it is somewhat flat and harsh. The major inconvenience on this recording is that audience is very noisy, being intrusive in some occasions (some girls really cheer loud near the taper), adding nice participation in others. A fantastic version of Running to Stand Still includes some lines from Waltzing Matilda.
About minors, People Get Ready is cut (fades out at 03:46) due to tape flip. October cuts in missing the very first seconds. There are little edits to save space on the mastertape, as mentioned above by 'Stadtfelder'. Finally, With or Without You cuts out at 02:31.
