Taper: Boyacrobat
Location: on the floor row 22 left of stage, for first 2 min / caught by security / then 2nd row on floor, in front of Adam on stage for remainder of show
Additional comments (by Boyacrobat): on this night, my friends came along, they wanted to see what U2 are like, they carried on loudly, were half pissed and hatched a plan to do a run for the front rows when houselights go down, we went through with it only to be caght (only 2 out of seven). I was one of them and we were taken to the rear of the arena and manhandled quite roughly by house event staff threatning us to be kicked out and pushing us, all this was going on infront of the f.o.h. desk and caught the attention of a U2 roadcrew who came to our defence, he stopped house security and we told him what had happaned, copped a lecture from him also, then magic intervenes and he escorted us to 2nd row right in front of adam, did not see it coming, I thought i was out. All of the events unfold at the start of the rec capturing entire episode. as a resault of all of this, ruined Hawkmoon and 3/4 of Desire, recorded with mics covered, was very lucky they did not detect recording equipment, left it running whole time, mics uncovered at end of Desire, track 3 onwards all ok, was very lucky to get this rec happening. U2 have the best roadcrew on the planet.
Comments
Lots of problems at the beginning with the levels, as mentioned by the taper above when he got caught. By the third song, everything seems to be fixed, and the overall sound is on the par of the previous nights. Clarity is pretty good, but the tape keeps lot of clipping. Again, crowd noise is present, generally between songs. The live feeling of the recording is also quite good. In my opinion, the show is great in this fifth night in Melbourne. The band put on an inspired set with a couple of highlights, such as a great performance of Desire or an extended rendition of Still Haven't Found, a messy One Tree Hill, or Knockin' on Heaven's Door (with BB King orchestra). Bono added some words of the Australian soap Neighbours to Bullet the Blue Sky.
A small edit is located between God Part II and Bullet the Blue Sky. Another one occurs after Pride. Skips happen at 02:32 and 03:04 in When Love Comes to Town.
