Recording Equipment - History

Sony ECM 959 mics / Sony D5 master > DAT at 32khz > wt2496 > CEPRO > CDWAV > FLAC

Taper: Yoshiaki Sumitomo

Transfer: Scott Zumsteg

Additional comments (S.Z.): I have had the masters of this and the next night show on DAT for years, but the DAT would never play in my D8, 59es, or dtc690 correctly. But then with the bizareness that is DAT, it plays fine in my M1. So after years of never being able to do anything with this DAT, well here it is. You will hear some digital noises in the background from time to time... bear in mind the tape didn't play straight for years.

Comments

First of three nights in Osaka. BB King's orchestra play along during People Get Ready. A fan from the audience also comes onstage to play along. The guy seems to be an experienced guitarist and plays some solos. Sound in this recording is very good but a bit thin. The major drawback to remark is that the tape contains lots of diginoises / pops in the background (mostly in CD1), as explained above by Scott, which downgrades sound quality. All in all, sound is pretty clear and sharp.
