Recording Equipment - History

Sony ECM-939 mic + Sony WM-D6C (Sony ES Metal, Dolby C) > Master cassette > Nakamichi CR-7A (azimuth correction) > Peak 5.0 > gentle JEMS mastering via TC Finalizer > CDR-Master > FLAC

Taper: JEMS - Another of the several indoor Zoo TV shows JEMS captured, this one looks short but is complete as the band skipped "Desire" and
"Ultraviolet" this night. On the bright side, the set boasts a real "Van Diemen's Land" and a extremely spirited crowd. This is another halfway up, halfway back job, and you'll here a bit of low talking here and there, but it is otherwise serviceable.

Comments

Very crisp recording of this short set. Overall sound is somewhat harsh, but clear enough to be rated as excellent. Music and vocals come through pretty well, as they sound quite loud. There are a few noticeable edits with no loss of music. There's a big skip at 02:59 in Pride, that cuts off some seconds of the song.

The show contains a pair of highlights. Two takes of Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, the first in full-band mode, but stopped halfway through, and re-started in a second take by Bono and Edge acoustically (both indexed together, track-7 disc-1). The other big surprise is Van Diemen's Land by Edge. Desire and Ultraviolet were dropped out from the standard setlist.
