Recording Equipment - History

Analog 1st > Stand-alone Pioneer CD burner > EAC > Magix Audio Cleaning Lab > WAV > Flac FrontEnd > FLAC (level-8)

Additional notes: Very nice recording from early in the "Zoo TV" tour. This one perhaps takes on additional emotional significance because the band had just completed recording of the album in Germany; in any case, this is a very spirited performance and somewhat of an unusual setlist for this point in the tour. The band is clearly "on" in this show; there are more lyrical "tags" in this show than most, it seems to me (i.e. Can't Help Falling In Love, Dancing Queen, etc.). Bono is in a great mood.

The recording is really nice; just enough crowd noise to capture the spirit of the boisterious German audience without interfering with the music. I did very little to the recording - just increased the +6 db bandwidth slightly to offset limitations of the taper's equipment. It's a very listenable recording, really nice for 1992.

Comments

Second source of this show, coming from a first generation cassette. It sounds pretty similar to my other source of this show, but this one doesn't sound as solid as 'One (and) Two', and brings more crowd interference. However, it sounds very clear with music and vocals well upfront. There is an edit after Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the World that only affects to crowd noise, and there is a fading process between With or Without You and Love is Blindness with no loss of music, either.

Edge's guitar didn't work at the beginning of Bullet the Blue Sky, and a roadie had to come onstage with a replacement.
