Comments
Lots of things to comment here. This item was transferred by Chris Wolf from a second generation VHS. So think that with this source, sound is mono. Taper recorded the full show except for Love is Blindness and Can't Help Falling in Love. Fortunately, U2 released the "Stay (Faraway, so Close!)" single that brought the live version of Love is Blindness exactly from this 30-08-1992 show as one of its b-sides. So the current recording has been completed with that "soundboard / professional" release of Love is Blindness.
Overall sound is pretty muffled and brings a prominent low-end. Left channel is louder than the right one, and it causes some noticeable clipping in the louder parts of the concert. Moreover, this issue increases the mono-sounding feeling. Taper had to be quite good located, as the recording sounds loud and still very clear with all instruments very well audible. Audience noise might be a factor, as individual voices, cheering and hard clapping are noticeable throughout the show, bringing again some clipping to it. First bunch of songs sound more flat than the rest, with some concrete portions of the show bordering with very good quality. Apart from the clipping, other minor drawbacks are located here and there, with no major inconveniences.
The show is still pretty listenable, but it's a pity about the muffled sound, as this is one of the best shows of the third leg, with a very impressive performance and an into-the-show audience. During Desire, some "reporters" come onstage with their own mics and camera and ask the Mirrorball Man about stupidities in front of the amazed crowd, although their questions are not audible in this bootleg (Mirrorball Man answers them while singing). The band played an extended version of With or Without You, re-started at the very end. Some songs of the gig were put on a ZooTV TV Special and the Outside Broadcast promo. The TV Special includes Zoo Station, Until the End of the World, When Love Comes to Town, Satellite of Love, Streets and Desire (you can perfectly see the scenes between the reporters and the Mirrorball Man) from this show. The songs that make it to the Outside Broadcast promo and bootleg are Until the End of the World, Even Better, Satellite of Love, and Streets.
Tracks 10 and 11 on CD2 are bonus. Track 10 comes from the "Salome: The Zooromancer Remix" 12" Vinyl promo. And track 11 was taken from "The Best of 1980-1990 commercial video release", with the song filmed on December 20th 1987 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe (AZ, USA).
