Comments

This is the second night in Rome. As the recording of the previous night, it was (probably) taped with a DAT, but transferred from low generation cassette. Sound quality is pretty similar but this one offers more crowd noise, that can be invasive on occasion with individual voices audible here and there (usually between songs). Sound is more solid in this second night, very crisp with a prominent bass. All instruments and vocals sound very clear and upfront, and the live feeling is very nice.

Both shows in Rome were attended by 42.000 people, although the stadium capacity was limited to 35.000, so 14.000 combined tickets were put on sale illegally by the promoter. Note Numb was premièred that night. The band played the shortest rendition I've ever heard of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, then they launched into I Will Follow. MacPhisto phoned to ex-president Bettino Craxi, but he couldn't reach him.

It's said this tape was transferred from the DAT master to CDR, but it seems it 'touched' an analog step. As Scott Zumsteg stated: "This source has analog in it, you can clearly hear tape cuts and more importantly: violent speed changes at the beggining of Pride. Even when a DAT starts abruptly, it is not subjected to speed changes like you hear at the beggining of Pride. There was also another place that I heard a tape pause slow down the tape. It's still a good show, but it's not straight digital, that's for sure."

Finally, note tracks 13 to 15 on CD-2 are just bonus from the previous night (Rome, July 6th, 1993).
