Comments

First of two soldout shows in Dublin to close the European leg of the Zooropa'93 tour. It's a pretty good show, maybe not as strong as the next night concert, but a nice one with lots of references to the band's hometown. After several months of touring, Bono points it out during Zoo Station "sleeping on my own bed tonight". A short rendition of Dirty Old Town appears after Angel of Harlem for the crowd's delight. This time, MacPhisto's speech after Desire talks about home, and he phones to his house. He gets a funny response from his answering machine. Quoting book U2-Live by Pimm Jal de la Parra (published by Omnibus Press):

- "What a night", MacPhisto shouts. "Home with the people who love us more than anybody else in the whole world. Home with the people who see through all the trappings and the hype. Home with the people who know the real me. Home with the people who don't see me as a glamorous pop star". [...] "Home with the people who call me Dad. I'm going to sleep on my own bed tonight. Perhaps I should warn them; I know they're excited to see me, after so long. I'm so tired hassling people", he says, dialing his own home number. On the answering machine is the voice of his four-year old daughter Jordan: "Hellooo, we're on holidaaay. Daddy, if that's you: we're not coming home until you take your horns off! Byeee!". -

This tape was transferred by Scott Zumsteg from a DAT clone off the DAT master. I prefer this source over the 'Sleeping on my Own Bed Tonight' version (taped with D7 + OKM IIr). Both bring excellent sound quality, but I'd say this one sounds more balanced and clean, less harsh, and a little more polished. Moreover, I think this one from Aiwa capsules present less crowd noise. Volume level is lower in the Aiwa version, but the sound is so clean that you can turn it up without any distortions in the levels.
