This is a great soundboard recording of U2's appearance at the two-day Tibetan Freedom Festival in Randall's Island, New York. U2 put on an inspired show, although they looked relaxed, as if they were trying to enjoy the festival atmosphere. Audience response to the band was somewhat indifferent, and the band had problems to connect with the crowd. Artists like Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Björk, Blur or Beastie Boys were part of the festival line-up, too.
Very good quality, although some pops and hiccups can be heard here and there. Music and vocals come through perfectly clear and powerful, and audience noise is minimal. The recording is a bit bass-dominated.
Tracks 06 to 11 also come from a 1st-gen pro shot video filmed by the MTV crew that documents U2's rehearsal of the song Please, as the band would play the song a bit later at the MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall of New York (NY, USA) on September 4th, 1997. Quality is outstanding. More info on it clicking here.
