Additional notes (by the taper): In February 2004, Keane had been tipped by the BBC as the band to watch in 2004. They weren't a secret to those with their ears to the ground in London town, with two singles released on Fierce Panda in 2003 (original versions of Everybody's Changing and This is the Last Time). Somewhere Only We Know had started to get significant radio play by the time they did these two gigs. The first was opening a four-band show at the Astoria as part of NME's annual awards gigs. Keane opened at around 6.30 to a very sparse crowd. Later in the evening, they had arranged an intimate gig at a secret location through their messageboard. Tickets were printed with 'Somewhere Only You Know' on them and the venue was only revealed on the day of the show. The show took place at the intimate Villiers Theatre underneath Charing Cross Station.

Comments

Bright tape that documents the second show that the band played in London the same day, as perfectly explained above by 'swintonboy'. This is not as crisp as the 'Astoria' gig (the first of the two), but still very good with a clear and sharp output. It starts a little raw, but after a pair of songs, sounds more full and solid.
